The Summer Vibes Crop top looks great with jeans, shorts, or under a cardigan in the cooler nights. It is an absolute must-have for every wardrobe.
This crop top has a thick flexible ribbed band made with numerous rows of back loop single crochet, while the main body is made with simple half double crochet.
While this design does not include specific stitch counts for each size, it does provide you with simple steps to follow in order to get your ideal adjustable size.
I specify in the design that I used weight 2 or sport yarn, but you can use any yarn weight and hook you choose. This pattern was designed so that you may build the top to fit your own body and form, which is why I don’t include specific stitch counts.
YARN
Thank you very much to Hobbii for giving me with this gorgeous yarn.
Hobbii Rainbow Bamboo in Natural White and Curry is used in the Summer Vibes Crop Top. It is a weight 2 yarn with a bamboo viscose and cotton combination that has a lovely feel and outstanding stitch definition.
The bamboo fibers in the yarn are extremely robust and add to the cotton’s longevity.
Hobbii Rainbow Bamboo is a wonderful yarn to work with since it is soft and pleasant, making it ideal for a variety of garments.

CROCHET SUMMER CROP TOP PATTERN
- Ribbed Band
- Using the 3.5mm crochet hook
- Ch 21
ROW 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end. Turn.
ROW 2: ch 1, sc in BLO in each st across. Turn
- Row 2 should be repeated until the band is long enough to fit around your underbust. Keep track of the number of rows since it will be useful later!
- To make a circular band, slst the two ends together. Turn the band right way out, with the seam on the inside.
- Switch to your 4mm hook.
The main body
So, remember how I asked you to keep track of how many rows of back loop single crochet it took you to get around your underbust? Now you must hdc the same number along the top of the band.
So, since your ribbed band required 120 rows, you will now create 120 hdc equally across the top of the band. So…
ROUND 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch here or throughout) hdc around top of band. Then slst to the first hdc to finish the round. TURN. It is critical that you turn your work for EVERY round. Why? Because you are now working in rounds of hdc, and we will be dividing the top and working in rows later. The stitches done in the round will look slightly different than the stitches made in straight rows if we do not turn. Believe me!
ROUND 2: ch 1 hdc in each stitch around, counting your stitches correctly. To finish the round, slst to first hdc. TURN.
Round 2 should be repeated until the main body section covers the bulk of your chest. If you need additional covering, add more rounds here, or less rounds if you want a deeper v neckline. Make sure you TURN after the last round is finished. Please do not fasten off.
So we’ll start sectioning off the top immediately…
Take a stitch marker and divide the amount of stitches by two. Insert a stitch marker into that stitch.
So my original st count was 120 hdc, which I divided by two to get 60. I sewed the 60th stitch. Then divide that amount by two more times. For me, 60 divided by 2 equals 30. I sewed the 30th stitch. This 30th stitch is in the center of the front of your shirt.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in each st across until you reach the 2nd st before the nearest st marker, then fasten off (the middle st). hdc2tog You should now have one st and the st with the st marker. Turn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in every stitch across. Turn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in each st across until there are only 2 sts left, hdc2tog. Turn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in every stitch across. Turn.
Repeat the last two rows until only three stitches remain.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in each of the next three stitches Turn.
Repeat the previous row until the strap measures 7 inches. Fasten off with a lengthy tail. For a longer or shorter strap, add or delete rows here.
Now for the other “triangle.”
Attach the yarn to the next available stitch close to the other “triangle.”
ROW 1: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in each st across until there are only two stitches left (2nd last st and the st with the other stitch marker), hdc2tog. Turn.
ROW 2: ch 1, hdc in every stitch across. Turn.
ROW 3: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in each st across until there are only two stitches left, hdc2tog. Turn.
ROW 4: ch 1, hdc in every stitch across. Turn.
Rep the last two rows until just three stitches remain.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in each of the next three stitches. Turn.
Rep the final row until the strap is 7 inches length. Leave a lengthy tail after fastening off.
The back of the top is up next! Turn the top so that the back is facing you. Attach your yarn to the next available st in the upper right corner.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in each st across until there are only 2 sts left, hdc2tog. Turn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1 hdc in each of the following rows. Turn.
Rep the final two rows until the rear part is the same height as the front, just before beginning the strap rows. Please do not fasten off. Turn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in the next 3 stitches. Turn.
Rep the final row until the strap is 7 inches length. Close the loop. There is no need to leave lengthy tail.
With the back facing you, count 3 stitches in from the opposite side and join yarn.
NEXT ROW: ch 1, hdc in each of the next three stitches. Turn.
Rep the final row until the strap measures 7 inches. Fasten off. There’s no reason to abandon the long tail.
Turn your top wrong side out and stitch one of the front straps to one of the back straps with a yarn needle and the tail on your strap. Rep on the opposite side. Turn your top right side out, and you’re done. Wear it with pride and enjoy!
